Overview
This straight mineral oil is blended from selected high viscosity index base oils and contains no additives except for an anti-oxidant and very small amounts of a pour point depressant, which helps to improve fluidity at very low temperatures.
Features
The specially-blended, high viscosity index base oils in AeroShell Oil 100 more effectively protect engine components than conventional mineral oils. You can be confident and have peace-of-mind knowing that your aircraft will perform reliably between scheduled overhauls.
This oil is approved for all aviation piston engines of civil aircraft when the use of an oil not containing a dispersant additive is required; however, it should also be used during the break-in of a new aviation piston engine or recently overhauled engines. Other useful information about this oil includes:
High viscosity index base oils used in AeroShell oils maintain their viscosity and protect engine components more effectively under the high shear stresses placed on lubricants than other similar oils.
AeroShell 100 is approved for all civil aircraft reciprocating engines that are used for running-in operations or for older generation engines that require non-additive type engine oils. (Refer to your manufacturer's recommendations for additional information.)
AeroShell 100 is compatible with other approved aircraft piston engine oils. Since this oil is fully approved to SAE J-1966 and is listed on the relevant Qualified Products List (QPL), elaborate precautions are not needed when changing from similarly approved aircraft engine oils, as long as these oils are qualified products.
AeroShell Oils are inherently stable in storage. Providing that they have been stored and handled correctly, prolonged storage does not have any effect on their quality, properties or performance.
The AeroShell Oil 100 is produced to meet fully the SAE specification J-1966 (Grade SAE 50). This oil also has military qualification approval. It is included on the Qualified Products List (QPL) issued by the US Navy, and it is on the Technically Acceptable Products List (TAPL) issued by the UK Ministry of Defense. The blending plants employed to manufacture this oil also hold the approval of the specification authorities, which ensures high quality standards are always maintained.
