Mr. Gil-Gomez has been related to
aviation all of his life. Born in Bogota Colombia and has lived in
the west coast of the US for many years.
Graduated in Mechanical Engineering
from the Univ. of Illinois, in addition to graduate work in
Aeronautical Engineering Mr. Gil-Gomez had training at Pratt &
Whitney and Garrett Airesearch and Boeing.
Late 1950’s to early 1960’s: Worked
at Boeing Commercial Aircraft Company in their B707 engineering
department. Transferred to sales support group covering Latin
America.
Early 1960’s to mid 1960’s: Worked
for Avianca Colombia as Director of Technical Planning just as
Avianca was entering the jet age.
Mid 1960’s to mid 1970’s: Garrett
Corporation in Los Angeles. Airline sales dept. that included
responsibility covering airlines in the Midwest of the US and Latin
America.
Mid 1970’s to late 1980’s: McDonnell
Douglas Aircraft Corp.: Latin America commercial aircraft sales
group. Placed over 1 billion dollars of DC-9’s, DC-10’s and MD-80’s
in the Latin American market. The majority of which still are flying
today.
Since the early 1990’s Mr Gil-Gomez
has consulted with a number of aircraft parts manufacturers, and FAA
repair stations.
Mr. Gil-Gomez is married, has four
children and lives in Southern California. His hobbies include
playing tennis, surfing the net, reading and traveling.
